Hunter Insker Barclays has announced key appointments across its Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow business banking teams as it continues to extend its support for Scottish SMEs and scale-up businesses.

Barclays' outgoing chief executive, Antony Jenkins Barclays, which employs around 3,000 people in Scotland, may be planning to cut more British jobs, according to a newspaper report.

Barclays has offered £250 in compensation to around 2,000 customers whose personal information was found on a USB stick recovered from a flat in England. The data theft was discovered last February.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is expected to issue Barclays with its biggest-ever fine as part of the penalties meted out to banks involved in a currency rigging scandal. The fine will pale in value against the massive payments to be made to US institutions.
